Installation is Complete of a New Wayfinding and Environmental Graphics Program for the City of Columbia, South Carolina

COLUMBIA , SOUTH CAROLINA — The first two phases of the new Yazi designed community wayfinding program for the City of Columbia has completed installation. More than 200 signs have been fabricated and installed throughout the City by Colite, the sign manufacturer, in advance of the first round of the NCAA basketball championships played in Columbia last March. The City of Columbia selected Yazi in 2017 to design a new wayfinding and environmental graphic program for the City. Rich in American history, the City of Columbia lies at the confluence of the Saluda, Broad, and Congaree Rivers, and is the capital and second largest city in the State. Recent urban redevelopment in the City particularly the Main Street and Congaree Vista districts have contributed to a resurgence of the City Center. A diverse population, distinctive neighborhoods, abundant parks and recreation, and a thriving cultural and entertainment scene all contribute to a unique sense of place and lifestyle. Columbia is home to several colleges and universities including the University of South Carolina, the state’s flagship and largest university. Yazi's task was to plan and design a new system of signs that directs visitors and residents to public destinations and reflects the current City branding. Colite, a global full-service sign manufacturer based in Columbia with over 70 years of experience in serving the world's leading brands, partnered with Yazi on this project to fabricate the new sign program.

Yazi Completes initial Sign Criteria and Design Guidelines and Environmental Graphic Standards for Turnberry and LeFrak's Sole Mia in North Miami, Florida

NORTH MIAMI, FLORIDA — Yazi has recently completed two significant wayfinding projects at Solé Mia — Turnberry Associates of Aventura, Florida and LeFrak of New York's 184-acre master-planned community set to rise in North Miami. Yazi's Solé Mia Sign Criteria and Design Guidelines serves as a model sign ordinance for the property, and defines and regulates the purpose and types of signage that may be erected throughout the project site. Yazi developed these guidelines with the close cooperation of the project owners and City of North Miami, with the goals of protecting public safety while enhancing the community identity. In phase 2, Yazi developed the extensive Solé Mia Environmental Graphic Standards guidelines that specify the design characteristics and criteria for all public exterior signage within the planned development including project identity; vehicular wayfinding; residential, retail, and commercial developments; pedestrian wayfinding; regulatory signage; and public parking signage. These extensive guidelines will be used by the developers and the property owners association to define and regulate the size, type, design, and placement of all public signage throughout the project's boundaries. Sole Mia is a 184-acre master-planned community set to rise in North Miami – just south of Aventura – on the largest remaining parcel of undeveloped land in South Florida east of Biscayne Boulevard.
